ABOUT THE ARTIST

  1. Stefano Bolcatolives and works in Rome. He started as a self-taught in the 80s, later he graduatedfrom the Academy of Fine Arts with Alfonso Avanessian and Giovanni Arcangeli at the OrnamentalArts School in Rome.

    His academic artistic training was based on life drawing, plastic modeling and painting. His pathpassed through the study of the great masters of art history. In the first production period, heworked in an original way on classic painting themes such as the figure, landscape and still life.

    Since 2006 he began using elements of the Lego game to create the compositions of his paintings,initially to deal with highly topical social issues, such as crime, domestic violence and the economiccrisis. In 2014, again through the use of Lego minifigures, he shifted his attention to thereinterpretation of more or less famous works in the history of art, his painting in this way takes on adecidedly POP form.In recent years, portraits of famous figures of our time have been added.
