Edvard Weie (1879–1943) was a Danish modernist painter known for his expressive landscapes, vibrant colors, and distinctive interpretations of nature. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and became part of the country's early modernist art movement. Weie was strongly inspired by the landscapes of Christiansø and Bornholm, creating paintings of rocky coastlines, hills, and dramatic skies. Influenced by French modern art, he emphasized color, light, and simplified forms rather than strict realism. His artistic approach reflected a personal and emotional response to nature, helping shape the development of modern Danish painting in the early twentieth century.
