About the artist

Camille Pissarro (1830–1903) was a Danish-French painter and a key figure in the Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist movements. Born on the island of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies, he later settled in France, where he developed his artistic career. Pissarro was known for his landscapes, rural scenes, village streets, and depictions of everyday life. His paintings featured expressive brushwork, vibrant colors, and careful observations of natural light. As a mentor to younger artists, including Paul Cézanne and Paul Gauguin, he played an important role in the development of modern art.
