The artwork “If (Trust==False) { Draw(); }” by Michael J. Bowman carries an additional layer of tension through its visual reference to the famous standoff scene in Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs".
Like the climactic confrontation between Mr. White and Mr. Pink, the piece captures a moment where trust has collapsed and paranoia takes over. The robotic figures and fragmented technology imagery echo that emotional atmosphere — everyone wounded, defensive, and emotionally exposed, even while trying to maintain control. The title itself, “If (Trust==False) { Draw(); }”, cleverly turns that cinematic tension into programming logic: if trust fails, weapons come out.
Rather than depicting literal guns or realistic violence, Bowman translates the scene into his signature abstract language of robots, symbols, doodles, and chaotic color blocking. The result feels less like a direct movie illustration and more like an emotional remix of the film’s themes:
distrust between people who once relied on each other loyalty colliding with survival instinct
emotional vulnerability hidden beneath tough exteriors the instant where relationships fracture irreversibly
The playful whimsey throughout the composition creates an ironic contrast to the Reservoir Dogs influence. Instead of cold criminal brutality, the artwork suggests that betrayal hurts precisely because affection and connection existed in the first place. The machine-like characters become stand-ins for human emotion struggling inside systems of fear, ego, and self-protection.
This is a Limited Edition of 50 Signed & Numbered Giclee Prints on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Paper.
