Descriptions:
Heavy Is The Head That Wears The Crown presents a vivid grid of crowns that shift through a full spectrum of color, transforming a symbol of power into a rhythmic meditation on identity, legacy, and perception. Each crown maintains the same intricate form yet carries a different emotional weight through its hue, inviting viewers to explore how color shapes meaning and mood. The repetition creates a contemporary pop sensibility while the subject matter encourages reflection on the burdens and expectations that accompany status. Printed as a C-Type on Fuji Crystal Archive Glossy and mounted on alu-dibond with a perspex face, the artwork has a luminous finish that highlights every detail and gives the composition a refined, gallery quality presence. This limited edition piece offers collectors a bold and modern statement that merges visual playfulness with conceptual depth.

About The Artwork
expand_more
Heavy is the Head That Wears The Crown borrows its title from Shakespeare, a metaphor often used to talk about the burden and difficulties of being a leader. The composition of 48 imaginary X-Rayed Coronation crowns (St. Edwards Crown) arranged in a rainbow gradient, is an homage to the legacy of HM Elizabeth II as well as her cultural influence during 70 years of reign, and a celebration of continuity with Charles III. As with all of Romano’s work, the use of colors and symbols in this piece are aimed to approach the matter (in this case leadership) with values that above all promote diversity and inclusion. The piece is beautifully finished with glossy perspex and ready to hang thanks to a subframe at the back.
