About the artist

Ivan Pili (Cagliari, 1976) is an Italian painter specializing in oil painting. After a long career as a professional musician, in 2015 he chose to devote himself entirely to painting, transforming what had begun as a personal exploration into his full-time artistic practice. Over the years he has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in contemporary realism, combining technical rigor with emotional intensity. His work focuses primarily on the human figure, not merely as a subject to be represented, but as a means of exploring inner states, tension and narrative possibilities. Through a constant pursuit of essentiality, Ivan Pili removes everything he considers superfluous, creating images in which every element serves a precise purpose. His paintings do not tell complete stories; instead, they capture a fragment of time, suspended between what has just happened and what is about to happen. It is within this deliberately undefined space that the viewer is invited to enter, completing the work through personal sensitivity and experience. Light plays a fundamental role in his artistic research. Rather than simply describing reality, it guides the viewer's gaze, shapes the rhythm of the composition and creates a balance between what is revealed and what remains hidden. Technical precision, achieved through the medium of oil on canvas, is not an end in itself but the means by which this visual experience becomes believable. Throughout his career, his work has been exhibited at major international art events, including the Venice Biennale, Art Basel Miami Week, Artexpo New York, the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris and Arte Fiera Bologna. In 2024 he received the 'Artist in History' award at Palazzo Valentini in Rome. Today, Ivan Pili's works are part of private collections across numerous European countries and the United States.
