About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by the beautiful Kearsney Abbey Gardens in Kent. Using a mixture of cold wax medium and oil paint, I built up sweeping layers of vibrant color. Then using the Sgraffito technique, I scratched into the surface with various implements to create exciting textural effects throughout the painting.

About the artist

I am a professional impressionist painter living in Kent. The focus of my work in upon light, colour and atmospheric perspective using oils and cold wax medium.I experiment with the Sgraffito technique, using different implements to mark through the layers of paint to create body, depth and exciting textural effects.

I am currently represented by the Natasha Peal Gallery, Bekesbourne, Canterbury and have paintings in private collections in USA, Europe and Saudi Arabia. I also lead workshops in and around Kent on oil and cold wax techniques.
