About the artist

Andō Hiroshige (1797–1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist renowned for his woodblock prints of landscapes, travel scenes, and everyday life during the Edo period. He was especially famous for his series *The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō* and *One Hundred Famous Views of Edo*, which captured Japan's changing seasons, scenic routes, and urban landscapes. Hiroshige's distinctive use of color, perspective, and atmospheric effects influenced many Western artists, including Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet. He is regarded as one of the greatest masters of Japanese landscape printmaking.
