About the artist

Alfred Sisley (1839–1899) was an Impressionist painter known for his beautiful landscapes depicting the French countryside, rivers, villages, and changing seasons. Born in Paris to British parents, he spent most of his artistic career in France. Sisley focused on capturing the effects of natural light, weather, and atmosphere through delicate brushstrokes and harmonious colors. Unlike some of his fellow Impressionists, he devoted himself almost entirely to landscape painting. Today, he is recognized as one of the important figures of the Impressionist movement.
